What is WIDA?
WIDA is an organization that provides resources and assessments to support multilingual learners/English learners in developing their English language skills. WIDA helps schools support students in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English while also valuing and building on students’ home languages and cultural backgrounds.
What is WIDA ACCESS?

Exiting the Program (Reclassification)
To exit the program, students must meet specific benchmarks on the annual ACCESS test:
- Overall Composite Score: 4.2
- Composite Literacy Score: 3.9
The 4-Year Monitoring Period
Once a student exits the program, they are monitored for four years to ensure continued success.
- At the end of each grading period, teachers complete a Monitor Reporting Survey.
- If a student struggles due to language development, they may be readmitted to the ESL program.
- After four successful years, the monitoring status is officially concluded.
