History and Social Science (Kindergarten)
Overview:
In Kindergarten, students build their understanding of community and citizenship. They learn about classroom democracy and the importance of respect for one another, as well as the roles of people in their school and local community. Students are introduced to basic geography through local maps and landmarks, explore national and state traditions, and begin to understand simple concepts of work and money. Instruction emphasizes curiosity, collaboration, and the idea that communities work best when people contribute and care for one another.
