History and Social Science (Grade 4)
In Fourth Grade, students expand their study to North America, including Canada, Mexico, and the United States. They explore ancient civilizations of the continent, as well as the impact of early European exploration. Students practice map reading, mapmaking, and geographic reasoning, building on skills from earlier grades. They also consider how geography influences human settlement and resource use and how the westward expansion of the United States contributed to the growth of the nation. Lessons emphasize careful use of evidence and respectful discussion of multiple perspectives.
