Grade 1
Overview
In Grade 1 at H. Olive Day School, students grow as emerging readers, writers, and mathematicians while becoming more confident in applying their skills. In supportive classroom communities, they explore texts, build number sense, and investigate the world around them. Students learn that mistakes help them grow, and they use teacher guidance to reflect on their thinking. This year encourages students to see themselves as capable problem solvers.
