The Norfolk School Committee has established a
twelve member special advisory committee to develop a strategic plan
to guide the Norfolk Public Schools.
About strategic planning

Objectives
- Identify the educational values and vision of the community
- Align the work of the school committee, school council, administration, faculty and staff towards the educational values and vision
- Identify and prioritze short- and long-term goals and projects, including
- Develop a plan to assess the ideal administrative structure for NPS
- Exploring regionalization and shared services with town and other districts
- Technology and capital planning/investment
Consider external influences
- Touch economic times and dwindling resources from local and state sources
- State and federal requirements
- MCAS and No Child Left Behind
- A refocus by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on potential regionalization

About our facilitator
Lyn L Benton
Lyn has a rich background in general management, financial management and strategic planning. She is currently an Associate Professor of Business and Math at Dean College. She has served as CEO of a technology company, Chief Knowledge Officer for an International IT training organization, CFO of a biotech company, VP of Finance and Corporate Controller for a Fortune 500 company, VP and Assistant Corporate Controller for a Fortune 500 technology company, and on Boards of Directors/Advisory Boards. In these positions Lyn has worked with corporate boards, shareholders, the SEC, and all levels of internal management.
Lyn is a Principal of Benton Consulting Services. Recent consulting engagements have included Sarbanes-Oxley training and compliance; fraud assessment for executive committees, strategic analysis of business plans, management information systems, and organizational development.
Lyn holds an MBA from Babson College, a BSBA from Northeastern University, and attended the International Executive Management Forum of the Wharton School of Business.
A resident of Norfolk, Lyn is generously volunteering her time and expertise.
