This has been a great year in technology. Students have accomplished many projects, which have included integrated studies using word processing, graphics, web research, educational games on the web, use of spreadsheets and generally navigating around the computer. Classes have integrated into English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, and Physical Education. It is truly exciting working with our dedicated and gifted staff to accomplish this goal.

As we enter the summer, you will begin hearing about a school wide initiative using a web-based program called XtraMath. We have a student start page which is listed under Departments/Technology/ Student Start Page in the left side bar list on our front page. (http://www.norfolk.k12.ma.us) Hopefully, this summer will bring beautiful weather with lots of outdoor play. However, when there are a few moments of quiet indoor time, please encourage your child to practice his/her math fluency using XtraMath and general keyboarding skills. You can find many of our web-based keyboarding programs in our Children’s Discovery Zone/Just For Fun/Keyboarding. Dance Mat Typing is a favorite amongst our younger students. Please encourage “Good Work-time posture” which includes sitting up and centering the student at the keyboard.
