HOD High 5's !

Posted by Mrs. Balfour in Principal

HOD – it’s a great place to be!  That is because all of us at HOD KNOW that it takes a village to raise and educate a child! Here are just a few people who deserve a special HOD High 5!

  • Mrs. Ann Hurley, HOD school nurse, who was honored by all of us at HOD on School Nurse Day, May 9th, for her outstanding service to the children, families and staff of HOD.
  • Mrs. Holli Merritt, a special needs resource teacher, who will receive the Norfolk County Teacher Association Honor Award for her wonderful teaching and collaboration at HOD. Her fellow teachers nominated her for this award.
  • Mrs. Rosemary Madden, our music teacher, for directing two wonderful concerts that showcased the musical skills of our first and second grade students. Kudos to the performers and the first and second grade teachers and assistants as well!
  • Mrs. Anderson’s and Mrs. MacKenzie’s second grade classes for staging an enchanting fairy tale play – Sir George and the Dragon – for our school family as well as their families and guests. Thanks to Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Haley, Mrs. MacKenzie, Mrs. Binette and Mrs. Moscariello for all of their work with our students!  Kudos to these students for two great performances!
  • Our Jump Rope for Heart participants who collected over $1600 for the American Heart Association. Thanks to Mrs. Roberta Hunt, HOD physical education teacher, who coordinated this with our special day of rope jumping with Mark Rothstein !
  • Ms Sonia Fitopoulos, an HOD alum and student at Bridgewater State College, who completed an internship with Mrs. Carolyn Kelley, our school adjustment counselor. Our students and staff loved having Sonia rejoin our school family! We loved seeing her smiling face at our school once again.!
  • Ms Jacqueline Reilly, another HOD alum and a student at Ursuline Academy, who completed her Senior Service program at HOD. Many classrooms benefited from her participation and assistance! We wish her well as she heads off to college in the fall.
  • The TPA members who put on a wonderful Staff Appreciation Luncheon for all of us at HOD on May 29th. We appreciate not only the delicious luncheon, but also the ongoing support that we receive from the Norfolk TPA throughout the entire school year!  We couldn’t do what we do without the commitment of our TPA volunteers and their financial support for curriculum enhancement programs and grants to fund the purchase of curriculum materials.
  • The Math Committee, under the leadership of Mrs. Kelly Whitmore, for a very informative and well-attended Math Night on May 31st!
  • Mrs. Robbins and Mrs. Key, our HOD secretaries, for all that they do to keep HOD running smoothly. Their friendly dispositions and their kind and helpful ways create a welcoming environment in our office every day!
  • The members of the H. Olive Day School Council for all of their dedication and hard work throughout the year and the creation of HOD’s School Improvement Plan.  Our parent members are Mrs. Julie Redlitz, Mrs. Liz Gebhard and Mr. Brian Murphy . School members are Mrs. Deidre Ferrara, Mrs. Ashley Leger, Mrs. Deborah Dressler and Mrs. Linda Balfour.
  • All of the parents and families of HOD students for your ongoing support throughout the year. We truly appreciate all that you do at home to reinforce and enhance the learning that takes place at school.  Have a wonderful summer, but don’t forget our summer reading and math programs!!
