Technology

Posted by Mrs. OConnell in General

The end of the year is so much fun in the computer lab as we can now pull together skills that have been introduced throughout the year and apply it to projects which demonstrate many skills rather than a few in isolation.

Kindergarten students are working on word processing skills as well as continuing their work with reading skills using Lexia. They are not only learning to write their first and last name but will also soon be logging into our computer system where they will have a personal location to save work. Skills needed to accomplish this task include use of the shift keys for uppercase letters, the space bar for a space in between first and last names and the delete and return keys.

Grade One is working on a presentation piece using Keynote software. They have created this presentation from scratch and before it is complete, they will have named saved the document, had to retrieve it as it is not completed in only 1 class, typed in text boxes and added graphics. We are hoping to get to coloring backgrounds and some classes have begun coloring letters.

Grade 2 is working on spreadsheets and type in a cell, color in a cell and utilize other formatting such as underlining. This will build towards our weather project, which will begin soon.

Teachers have continued to work with Acuity and supplemental lessons as well as assessments are being created throughout grades 1 and 2.
