Happy New Year
Time is a natural element of conversation this month. Kids are curious about the change to the year 2012. They have questions about what’s the next holiday. Thinking perhaps in terms of a vacation day or celebration. This is the perfect time to include your child in your family’s weekly schedule or month at a glance planning.
Have them write in their activities.
Create some math talk around these types of family events this month.
You may even create a room full of living reminders for yourself. Children love to tell you when it’s time to do things.
In this vein, enjoy these time jokes with your crew this month.
The teacher asks a child how many seconds are in the year. The child says, “12.” The teacher asks, “Why?” The child responds, “Jan. 2, Feb. 2, March 2,”
If you liked that one, try this: “Why didn’t the clock work? It needed a hand!”
Happy New Year to you and yours.
