A question that we often hear from parents is, “What is my child expected to learn this year?” Fortunately, we can provide a good resource for parents in response to this question! Our school district’s curriculum teams spent two years creating Learning Expectations documents in the areas of English Language Arts, Math and Social Studies. (The Science Learning Expectations are still a ‘work in progress’.) The purpose of writing these documents was twofold: to enable...

The children in grades K-2 have been working on RESPECT in music through our school wide learning of both our RESPECT rap as well as Red Grammar's Saying Hi. We have also been working on playing rhythmic ostinatos (repeated rhythmic patterns) on our glockenspiels and expanding our music repertoire in our choral rehearsals. We are looking forward to continuing our further exploration of the elements of music as we build on steady beat and add melody and form lessons. We are enjoying dramatic movement...
