Dear Parents/Guardians of Grade 6 Students:
I’d like to take a moment to remind you that promotion is just a few days away. This event is such an exciting and special time for you and your sixth grader. I hope this letter answers any questions you may have in regards to promotion.
The promotion exercises will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 outside in the parking lot near the cafeteria. I would suggest that you arrive between 8:45 and 9:00 a.m. to assure proper seating. (if rain is in the forecast, the promotion will be held in the cafeteria. I ask that you limit the number of family to two, and refrain from having any extended family members attend due to the limited space in the Cafeteria.) Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
We encourage the children to dress appropriately for the day. In the past, a dress shirt and pants for boys and age appropriate dresses for the girls. For this special day sundresses with straps will be permitted. Your support of these suggestions is much appreciated. Also, in order to eliminate any distractions during the promotion ceremony, NCTV will be video taping it on June 14. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of the DVD, please email NCTV ahead of time at NCTV@NorfolkCable.com or you may see the NCTV staff at the ceremony on the 14th. The fee for the DVD will be $15.00 (cash or check-made payable to NCTV) due before or on the day of promotion, no exceptions.
A special reception honoring the students will be held in MacBride Auditorium following the promotion. Students will return to their homerooms to receive their final report cards and proceed to meet their parents at the reception. Refreshments will be served around 10:45 a.m.. This reception is a good time to take pictures, as all sixth grade students will be enjoying this reception together.
I would like to extend my best wishes to you and your seventh grader-to-be.
Truly Yours,
Lisa Altham-Hickey, Principal
