Recorder Concert, Memorial Day... Music, Wonderful Music

Grade 3 students are continuing to prepare for their upcoming Recorder Concert on May 23rd. Students should continue to review and practice all of their recorder songs at home. Students in all grade levels are preparing to sing at the annual in-school Memorial Day Program at the end of this month. Additionally, all Grade 6 students are also preparing to sing at Grade 6 Promotion, which will be held on Thursday, June 14th, the last day of school.

Spring Band Peformances

Congratulations to the Advanced Band for an outstanding performance at the Stars at Symphony Showcase which took place on Sunday April 22, at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.  The Band performed their gold winning MICCA program which included: Songs of the Sea arranged by John Kinyon, Clouds written by Anne McGinty, and Fighting Falcon March written by Todd Stalter. Grade 3 students are busily practicing and preparing for their recorder concert which will be held on May 23rd in MacBride Auditorium at 1:45 pm.  Parents will be invited to attend this afternoon performance. Students should be reviewing and practicing all of their recorder songs at home. Grade 4 students will be learning to play conga drums this month. Advanced Band Earns Gold Medal at MICCA

The Advanced Band earned a GOLD MEDAL at the 35th annual Massachusetts Choral and Conductor’s Association (MICCA) Concert Festival on Saturday, March 31st. Over 160 bands and orchestras as well as 60 choruses from across the state participated in this festival. Groups that achieved a score in the highest rating bracket received a Gold Medal; groups in the second bracket received a Silver Medal; groups in the third bracket received a Bronze Medal; groups in the fourth bracket received a Medal...

Performances To Be Proud Of

The 112 students in our Beginning Band gave two outstanding performances on Thursday, February 2, at 1:45 for students and staff and at 7:00 pm for friends and families. Our beginners are hard at work building upon their skills as young musicians. As we begin to prepare for our spring performance, the students will be learning to play within a greater range on their instrument, play in a variety of key signatures, and develop the ability to play within a wider range of dynamics. Classical and Jazz Composers For Every Grade

Students will be learning about famous classical and jazz composers of the past as well as styles of music of various time periods and cultures this month.  Grade 3 students will be learning about the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven. February Music News

Grade 3 Students will continue learning to read and play new notes and new songs on their recorders. Students are assigned songs to practice at home each week and are also asked to review and practice songs previously learned.  It is very important that all students practice at home weekly so that they are prepared to go on to learn new, more challenging material the next music class. African American Spirituals

Students in all grade levels will continue reading music notation through singing and playing musical instruments (recorders in Grade 3, rhythm instruments, percussion instruments and Orff instruments).  Activities related to African American Spirituals will be featured and will lead up to Martin Luther King Day.  Students will also learn about various famous American composers throughout history.

Join Us for Winter Concerts
